Music Monday

It's Monday, Monday, gotta get down on Monday...no, I promise that's not the song. The song of the week is: Kiss Me At Midnight--N'sync. That's right, I said it. It's a Christmas song. So sue me. This is my one and only CD still in my possession since...*sob* N'sync broke up. I like this song because it's a fast-paced, upbeat song about New Year's Eve (note: NOT Christmas). Here's the music: Enjoy!

It's a new day and a new week.

It's a new day. A new week. Last week was pretty rough in terms of watching what I eat. A week ago, when I went shopping, I had no list and no prepared meal plan, so I had no idea of what to buy; halfway through the week, I ran out of food and ate out--a lot. I'm hoping to do better this week; my meal plan is prepared and I had a list to use. NewGoalSunday time: Cook double batches of whatever you're cooking. "When you prepare dinner, especially on weekends, cook extra and freeze to use for another dinner or lunch. Then, you'll have a healthy meal ready when you are." This goal might be tough for me. I share an apt. with 3 other girls, and our fridge is always full of food. It never gets really empty, so I don't know if I have much room at all to store any of my leftovers. I do use this for eating out (mostly pizza). From Friday's pizza, I was able to get another 2 meals! On the other hand, this could be a super helper when it comes to time management. I am extremely busy during the week, what with student teaching, class, and preparing for concerts. Hope you all have a good week!

Music Monday

Another installment of Music Monday, where I randomly choose a song that I like from my iTunes library!

This week's song choice: Genuine Ken (New Mix1.0). Go ahead: judge. I loved this show when it came out, and for some reason I LOVED the catchy theme song, so I decided to buy it on iTunes. Trust me, I don't buy TV theme show songs often. This is the only one. But I like it!

New Goal Sunday

New goal today: Pack your lunch the night before.

"You'll have given yourself the gift of extra time in the morning and you will assure that you have a healthy meal during the day. Don't forget to pack snack items so you can avoid the vending machine."

I pack my lunch nearly everyday. When I don't, I simply do not eat lunch. I have no time in between schools to run and get lunch (and eat it) before my next class begins. Healthy meals.....sometimes.....but I always pack snacks, such as Jell-O, Greek yogurt, crackers, cheese cubes, or pretzels, to eat during my one 10-minute break in the middle school. I find these snacks to be convenient, usually not expensive, and easily portable, along with being mostly healthy, small snacks. This is a goal that can be easily attainable!

Congrats to the students in the Dixie Heights High School musical on 3 wonderful shows this weekend!! They were all fabulous!! Although the show was hilarious and fun, I am glad it is over, so that I can focus on student teaching and school work now.

Hoping for a good week!

Do you pack your lunch during the week? Or do you eat from the dining centers (college students)? Have any healthy, easy-to-make, portable meal suggestions?

Life & Death

Life has been stressful, so hopefully after this week (high school musical week), it will be better!

Today is New Goal Sunday, and today's new goal is: purchase frozen, ready-to-cook ingredients.

"Frozen fruits and vegetables have high vitamin and mineral content because they don’t sit around losing these nutrients for long before they are preserved. Although you’ll want to keep plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables around, it’s great to have frozen produce available for quick meal additions and smaller servings. Also, some grocery stores offer frozen boneless chicken breasts and a wide variety of seafood items in re-sealable packages. These are great for quick, healthy meals." From Sparkpeople.com

I do this so much it's not even funny. Frozen veggies have always been a major part of our family, and I love frozen fruit in a smoothie. Also, frozen chicken breasts have been a part of my eating since I got here. Chicken is a great, somewhat lean protein.

Ok, well, that is that. Some updates on my life: I tried turkey instead of chicken, and to be honest, it is.....an acquired taste (which = not for me...now). I also tried flavored Greek yogurt. Surprisingly, it was good! I am now replacing regular yogurt with Greek yogurt, due to the health benefits of Greek yogurt. This week, I'm trying peach and honey. Mmm!

There was a 4th death at the conservatory I attend, and it was truly shocking news. I just couldn't believe it. 4 in 4 years...it's tough, and I hope everyone is doing okay and understanding that the grieving process will take time, but that he will always be remembered.

Where have I been? NOT in Cincinnati

As is obvi, I have not blogged in quite some time. The last time I blogged, I was still in Cincy. Now, I am back home up north, and enjoying a WELL-DESERVED BREAK!!!!! Life can't get better than this--oh, except for the fact that the day I left, I came down with a nasty sinus infection. And it still hasn't gone away. Almost a week later. Yuck. Some of it might be allergies as well.

What has happened whilst I have been away? My vacuum choked on me and is now dead. Then again, I think we've had it for almost 6 years? It was my bro's before mine. I got a brand new one to take back to campus. Yay for my own general cleanliness!

I have enjoyed some time at home, away from the hecticness and he** of life down in Cincy. And I am COUNTING THE DAYS until I am out of there. 61 days when I return!!!! :) I love Cincinnati, but this has not been a good year in many aspects, and I am ready for it to end, and I'm ready to enter the real-life, MATURE world of adulthood.

Best news yet: I'm on the hunt for jobs!!! IN KENTUCKY!!! Woo!! There is an opening (or 2) for middle/high school choir in Louisville. Needless to say, I'm really excited--Louisville sounds like a great place to get a job!!!

Aahh!!! Making finishing touches on resume tomorrow morning!!!!

That sounds about it--I'm coloring eggs as I write, in preparation for Sunday, in which my family will look at the eggs, then probably just throw them away. I bought lots of yummy chocolatemmmmmm.....and my family is going to Easter Vigil mass tomorrow night, which means we will miss the "Ten Commandments" original movie on TV. FOR SHAME!!!

Job openings? Send 'em my way!!!
Have a safe Easter! I will be posting pics of things I did on break soon!
